Helping children to find their voice through play

Through the power of play and creativity, we’re inspiring children to find their voice on sustainability issues that matter to them.

Since 2022 The Day and the LEGO Group’s Build the Change social impact programme have worked together to engage 7-14 year olds in sustainability issues in the news.

Bringing Build the Change into the classroom, children take on real-world challenges, develop life skills through play and have the opportunity to share their creative ideas with decision-makers.

Build the Change

Build the Change is a LEGO Group social impact programme that is supported by the LEGO Foundation. It inspires and empowers children around the world to build a brighter future through play, and gives them a voice on issues that matter to them.

Children are immersed in real planet and people challenges and use creativity to build solutions and share their ideas with each other and the world, developing key skills they need to thrive such as creativity, communication, collaboration and problem solving. Millions of children worldwide have taken part in the programme in schools, homes, online and at events.

The Day

The Day’s vision is for every young person to find their voice. We see the real world as a teacher. We make lessons out of news. Every day we explore fresh questions and challenges. Finding your voice is at the heart of the most important life skills: Oracy. Information literacy. Critical thinking. Teamwork. Confidence. Wellbeing. Problem-solving. Real world awareness. We believe every child should be taught these skills. They should not be an accident of birth.
